Samin Vatandoust was born in April 1972 in an art loving
family. His father, Mr. Rashid Vatandoust, has long been the
opera singer and soloist in Tehran's Symphony Orchestra.
Samin started learning the
guitar in 1986. He also studied vocal with his father since
then as well as solo with Dr. Esfandiar Ghareh Baghi and pop
music techniques with Hamid Panahi and Pedram Marandiz.
Samin began his professional
singing career with Pedram Marandiz in Najva Group, along
with I.R. of Iran TV and Vahdat Music Hall musicians,
performing a concert at Arasbaran Art Center in 1996.
He then started his popular
album, My Good Citizen (Hamshahri -e Khoobam), in 2000. The
lyrics for this album were by Ms. Vakili, Mazda Shahani, and
Hatef Alimoradi and melodies by Hamid Panahi, Kaveh Yaghmaee,
Pedram Marandiz, Shervin Najafian, Jahangir Sabri, Ali Alavi,
Nima Varasteh, Mazda Shahani and Masoud Soltani. The songs in this album
have rhythmic, rock and folk theme utilizing high quality
recording.
Samin's new
full feature album, The City of Dreams (Shahr -e Arezoo Ha), is going to

Samin says: "One of my
long wishes was working with my father". This came true
in Easter Song (Taraneh -ye Mashreghi) where Mr. Rashid
Vatandoust sang along.
